Important Fire-related Closure Update

10/19/2017

Hello,

As you are probably aware, SRHS and ArtQuest are closed due to the recent wildfires; we do not know yet when we will be able to return or re-open school.  Also, some of our AQ faculty/staff/volunteers are still evacuated and/or have suffered  damage to or have lost their home, so we are not yet sure when our full staff will be on hand.  Many of us are still not able to get to Santa Rosa from other locations, so that is another issue hampering us.  For now, this is the situation:

Shadowing appointments will not be kept nor any new appointments made at this point.  We will decide how to handle this once we are able to return to work and can regroup and consider our options.  It is very possible that our typical routines and offerings will have to be substantially revised.  Also, once we are able, we will contact all parties who have already scheduled a Shadowing appointment and anyone who is still trying to make one, to communicate what we have decided we are able to do.  As I know you'll understand, our priority must be to get our current students re-engaged in their curricular studies and progress.

AQ Entry Packets for Fall 2018 entry were first available the evening of the AQ Fall Showcase on Thurs., Oct. 5th and we spent Fri., Oct. 6th cleaning up from the Showcase event the night before!  That was the last day we were at school.   We are working to get the Entry Packet on the website soon but so far, it is not available there nor elsewhere.  We will also be working to get some hard copies of the Packet to the Main Office of SRHS, but again that is not possible quite yet.

Other AQ Events/Performances are subject to change.  Please contact us when school and the AQ Office reopens about these.

I will check my email intermittently as I can, however will probably be able to reply only to urgent messages for now.

Thank you so much for your patience and for your interest in ArtQuest.  We appreciate your understanding and support very much.  On behalf of all the ArtQuest community, I send my best hopes for your safety and well-being.

ArtQuest Director

Thank You for a Great 2016-2017 School Year

THANK YOU for your membership and support last year. We had an amazing year! With your help and financial assistance, we were able to make a significant contribution to the success of the ArtQuest program.
Below are some of the things we accomplished last year:
  • Hosted the first annual “Back to ArtQuest” Fall picnic.
  • Hosted the ArtQuest Speakeasy at Paradise Ridge, which raised ± $17,000!
  • Hosted two ArtQuest faculty & staff appreciation luncheons.
  • Provided volunteers and refreshments at the Fall and Spring Showcases.
  • Organized volunteers to help with shadowing and school tours.
  • Organized volunteers at orientation and Back to School Night.
  • Organized volunteers to help process applications.
  • Designed a new ArtQuest website that was launched last Fall.
  • Worked on the relocation of the AQ office into the C-Media building.
  • Hosted the annual student appreciation ice cream social in the Spring.

Last year, we had more members than ever, so we were able to say, “yes” to almost every funding request. Below are some of the things we contributed to:
  • $200 for each ArtQuest teacher to help purchase classroom supplies.
  • $525 toward the purchase of main auditorium sound equipment
  • $2,000 toward new workstations in the Digital Arts classroom
  • $360 in support of the VFA Memory Project.
  • $1,000 toward the purchase of new audio/visual equipment for the choir classroom
  • Awarded $6,250 in Sparks Awards, which allow ArtQuest students to pursue their artistic interests beyond Santa Rosa High School.

Art Show & Sale This Weekend!

Please join us for a our 6th annual art show and sale, The Independents. The student members of the National Art Honor Society curate and put on this show and sale every year. We have original art work for sale, a pop-up shop of craft and art based items, a silent auction with themed baskets (Art supplies, A Day in the Park, Kid's night in/Parent's night out, etc...) live music, food and wine. This is a wonderful opportunity to see student artwork and support their efforts.

All the sales of the art work go back to the students and the rest is a fundraiser for our AQ chapter of the National Art Honor Society.
