Local West End artist and ArtQuest alumna Mica Jennings is showing her work at Santa Rosa City Hall through February 8, 2018.
Through the high-contrast medium of acrylic on velvet, Mica Jennings creates stark animal images with a focus on texture. The subject is represented as a collection of light and dark, fine and coarse, smooth and sharp. The sum of the isolated structures is an animal that is wild, still, sometimes grotesque, yet exactly the creature that it needs to be. In a time when humans unquestionably dominate our shared home, attention is called to the variety of beauty that is ours to protect, and the purity that exists in the hearts of all beasts.
Art Show benefiting Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue and the Santa Rosa High School ArtQuest Program.
